Context for ShareDotDoc

An innovative project

We have seen serious political shifts and action over the past years. People’s mobilization and activist movements have become increasingly important, specifically those of marginalized groups, including women- and LGBTQI-led movements. Share.Doc aims to contribute to this political shift by giving a face to the work activist organizations and civil society initiatives are doing worldwide and strengthening them in terms of finances and other support.

The time is now!
With technological innovations and changes in the way people spend their money, crowdfunding and peer-to-peer platforms have seen an explosive growth over the past few years. There is a shift to the ‘sharing economy’. Share.Doc follows this trend: it seamlessly fits into this market but focuses on ‘doing good’ rather than making money. However, it uses a very different strategy from the type of fundraising we know from the charity world. Going to the movies is something people do when they feel like it. Their heart, and hence their wallets, are much more open to donating compared to receiving the umpteenth newsletter on a Friday morning at work. Share.Doc enables people to take action at exactly the right moment.
